An Aforedark Fable         “Hurry up Ritt, or we’ll miss the beginning!”           “I know Autor.  I’ll be out in a second.”           Ritt studied the figurine through the diminishing light cast by the setting Uris.  As the ruddy glow filtered through the frosted glass window, it fell on the clay statuette and gave it a warm glow.  In this light, Ritt could almost make himself believe it was a worthy attempt, but then he would shift his gaze and suddenly all those flaws suddenly seemed glaringly obvious to him: the plane of the left check was slightly higher than that on the right;  the length of the fingers were fractionally disproportionate to the An Aforedark Fable

Bearing the SorrowsAmy Gribley gasped short, ragged breaths and wondered if she would hyperventilate, or if she would even live long for the matter to become an issue.  A mixture of the dark night and the tears of desperation streaming from her eyes blinded her to alley way ahead, and so she ran with her arms outstretched before her, using them as antennae, turning whenever they encountered an obstruction.  Already her fingers and knuckles were bruised and bleeding from the few times she had almost stumbled into brick walls.

Passing the SorrowsFlickering light from dozens of candles distributed about the chamber set multiple shadows dancing across the surface of the bookshelves lining two of the walls; no electric lights were in evidence down here—their harsh light would have been unbearable to the room’s only occupant.   
Craig Payne, Keeper of the Sorrows, was once again stirring from his rest as the sun began to tuck itself in beyond the horizon, leaving the world bathed in the darkness Craig now found so comfortable.  After donning his brown robes, he began to make the ascent up the basement stairs, the candles winking out one by one in his wake.

Back from nowhere...

Well, it's not as though I've actually been anywhere, but people could be forgiven for not realising that had been the case: I've been somewhat quiet of late on the DA front. Just look at all those messages I've let build up...

Well, something needs be done, and it starts with a completely new story from me written for the ~FantasyWritersUnited group September/October contest, although in typical fashion, it has been left until almost the very last minute (it was almost like being back at college, churning out several pages at the early hours of the morning the day before the deadline ;))

And then it's time to make some comments on some of my devWatched (aside from a few particular photos, because there is no way that I can look at them and be capable of formulating a thought any more intricate that "wow"... or possibly just "buh" ;))

And then I need to get back to writing Departure of Sorrows, because it's that series that people have been devWatching me for... right? :?

I seem to have come through (relatively) unscathed, thank you. Hope you had a pleasant festive season, although the mind boggles as to what Santa may have brought you, assuming you got everything you wanted. But then, I guess that depends if you were on the naughty or the nice list, wouldn't it? ;p

As to the nautifcal rope, I'm sure I have absolutely no idea as to what you may be implying...
